BIOGRAPHY
Keith Mendenhall studied literature and art history at Vassar College.
After receiving his degree in fine arts, Mr. Mendenhall worked closely with the architect Frank Gehry for eleven years. While working with Mr. Gehry, Mr. Mendenhall was primarily responsible for overseeing the production of a series of award winning books, exhibitions, and films documenting the architect’s work, including the feature length documentary Sketches directed by the award winning filmmaker Sydney Pollack and the exhibition Frank Gehry Architect at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.
During this time, Mr. Mendenhall was strongly influenced by Mr. Gehry and the artists and architects that formed Mr. Gehry’s close circle of friends and colleagues. Under their influence and tutelage, Mr. Mendenhall discovered a passion for the artistic pursuit and ultimately a deep sense of fulfillment and personal contentment in all aspects of the photographic process. As a result, Mr. Mendenhall chose to devote himself to the full time pursuit and exploration of digital and film photography as well as historical and contemporary alternative photographic techniques.
Mr. Mendenhall’s architectural photographs have been published and exhibited widely throughout the world, and his fine art photographs are included in a number of significant private collections.
Mr. Mendenhall is currently based in East Hampton, New York.
